2205 Duplex is an economical, lightweight grade suitable for a variety of applications where other steels are prone to SCC at elevated temperatures. The content of chromium (Cr), nitrogen (N) and molybdenum (Mo) elements can provide good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion caused by chloride under various conditions. It allows 2205 steel to be used in seawater, brackish water, bleaching and food processing operations.
